Neck Pain
Understanding your neck pain
Many things can cause neck and head pain, such as watching TV, cradling the phone in your neck, driving, sitting at a computer all day, or flying on an aeroplane. When the pain doesn’t subside when the activity is stopped an underlying problem may be detected within in the spine and nervous system.
15% of the population are experiencing head pain at any one time. Pain is a kind of a warning sign. Just like the smoke detector warning you of the possibility of fire.
Migraines tend to be a particularly intense headache and commonly involve a constriction and dilation of blood vessels of the brain. Flashing lights, visual disturbances, sensitivity to light, sound and motion may be experienced.
The spine is made up of 24 moving bones called vertebrae. If the joints that interlock the vertebrae cease to move in the correct way they can cause painful symptoms such as neck pain. The nervous system regulates the diameter of your blood vessels, if irritated this may affect the blood vessels to your brain and result in a migraine headache.
Chiropractors are specialists in the detection and removal of spinal dysfunction and nervous system interference. Without drugs or surgery!
An initial consultation will involve taking a full history including past medical history, and physical examination, including a spinal analysis to determine the cause of the problem. The chiropractor will then discuss with you the findings and what chiropractic can do to help. If you wish to continue then a treatment will be given at the initial consultation.
